Israel approves plan to seize all of Gaza and hold it indefinitely

May 5, 2025

Israeli officials have officially sanctioned a strategic plan aimed at fully seizing control of the Gaza Strip and maintaining a military presence there for an indefinite period.

This comprehensive initiative includes intentions to deliver humanitarian aid; however, the entry of essential supplies into the region remains restricted for the time being.

According to an Israeli official, the newly authorized military offensive is designed to facilitate the relocation of Gaza’s civilian population toward the southern regions while simultaneously preventing Hamas from commandeering humanitarian assistance.

The unfolding situation has intensified as the blockade on Gaza remains firmly in place, despite widespread international condemnation and the harrowing humanitarian plight faced by its residents.

On a recent Sunday, the United Nations publicly dismissed a proposed plan that aimed to facilitate aid distribution, characterizing it as reliant on what it termed as Israeli hubs.

This statement comes amid escalating concerns over the deteriorating conditions in Gaza, where the humanitarian situation continues to worsen.

Israeli cabinet ministers approved the new military strategy on Monday morning, just hours following the announcement regarding the mobilization of tens of thousands of reserve soldiers, a clear signal of escalating military readiness.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite more than a year of intense conflict in the region, has not yet succeeded in achieving his objectives of dismantling Hamas or retrieving all hostages.

Officials assert that this newly confirmed plan is intended not only to further these wartime goals but also to compel hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to the southern sectors of Gaza, which could aggravate an already critical humanitarian crisis.

They elaborated that the strategy entails the “seizure of the strip and the maintenance of territorial control.”

Moreover, the plan aims to obstruct Hamas’s ability to distribute humanitarian aid, which Israel claims bolsters the group’s authority within Gaza.

In a firm response, the U.N. has rejected this approach, cautioning that it would leave significant portions of the population, particularly the most vulnerable groups, deprived of necessary supplies.

The organization condemned the plan as seemingly intended to tighten control over essential resources, characterizing it as a coercive element within a broader military strategy.
