In an era where numerous American students face challenges in keeping pace with educational demands, a private institution in Texas is achieving remarkable outcomes with significantly fewer resources.

The Alpha School operates on a unique model, structuring its academic program to include merely two hours of classroom instruction each day, supplemented by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tutor.

The results of this innovative approach are noteworthy, with students consistently scoring within the top 1 to 2 percent nationally.

MacKenzie Price, co-founder of Alpha School, articulated during an interview on Fox & Friends, “We utilize an AI tutor and adaptive applications to deliver a fully personalized learning experience.

Our students are learning effectively. Our academic performance is among the top two percent in the nation.”

Following this brief morning academic session, students dedicate the remainder of their day to cultivating essential real-world skills, including public speaking, teamwork, and financial literacy.

Price, a psychologist educated at Stanford, established Alpha after observing her daughters returning from traditional schooling feeling unmotivated and unchallenged.

The inaugural Alpha campus was launched in Austin in 2016, following two years of meticulous development.

The underlying concept is both straightforward and ambitious: to condense core academic subjects into a two-hour daily curriculum through the use of technology, thereby allowing students to devote the remaining hours to personal growth endeavors.

This model has proven effective, as exemplified by Elle Kristine, a student at Alpha since the second grade, who shared her perspective on Fox & Friends.

“Many of my peers in conventional schools are overwhelmed and stressed,” Kristine stated. “At Alpha, we complete all our academic work in just three hours a day, which allows us to engage in our passions and pursue personal projects.

For instance, I am developing a secure AI dating coach for teenagers, a project that has garnered attention from The Wall Street Journal.”

Currently, Alpha operates campuses in Austin, Brownsville, and Miami, accommodating students from Pre-K through high school. The Austin campus comprises both a K–8 academy and a designated high school.

The Brownsville location is recognized as the fastest-growing campus, while the Miami facility now serves students through the 10th grade.

The enrollment is intentionally limited, with approximately 150 students at the original Austin campus, which fosters a highly individualized educational environment.

Rather than employing traditional educators, Alpha utilizes guides who prioritize coaching and emotional support, while AI manages academic instruction.

“Our instructors dedicate their time exclusively to supporting our students,” Price remarked. “The essential human connection cannot be supplanted by AI; however, AI facilitates a personalized learning experience for each student.”

With increasing demand from parents and successful outcomes, Alpha plans to expand its educational model across the nation.

The school has announced the establishment of seven additional campuses by Fall 2025, with forthcoming locations including:

– Texas: Houston and Fort Worth (K–8)

– Florida: Orlando, Tampa, and Palm Beach (K–8)

– Arizona: Phoenix (K–8)

– California: Santa Barbara (K–12)

– New York: New York City (K–8)

Applications for enrollment are already available for many of these upcoming campuses.

Tuition fees vary by location, typically averaging between $40,000 and $50,000 annually, although the Brownsville campus offers subsidized tuition to enhance accessibility.

“This model is infinitely scalable and accessible,” Price asserted.

“It is designed to assist students who are currently struggling, as well as those who find traditional classroom settings unengaging.”
