A 39-year-old man from Carrollton, Texas, was arrested on charges of capital murder after allegedly beating his mother to death during what he claimed was an exorcism, police reported.
The incident occurred at a residence on the 2200 block of High Point Drive. Officers responded to a call around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday after the suspect, identified as Michael Davis, contacted authorities.
Upon arrival, police found a 68-year-old woman, identified as Davis’ mother, unresponsive with severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Fox News, Davis admitted to striking his mother multiple times with a hammer, believing she was possessed by a demon.
Investigators noted that Davis showed no remorse during questioning, stating he would act similarly if faced with another perceived possession.
Davis was taken into custody and booked into the Carrollton City Jail. He faces a capital murder charge, with no bond set at the time of his arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Carrollton Police Department.
