In a harrowing incident that underscores the perils of online relationships and unchecked jealousy, a Michigan man embarked on a 700-mile journey to Pennsylvania to commit arson.

Harrison Jones, 21, from Rockford, Michigan, was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a home in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, where six individuals resided.

The motive behind this drastic action appears to be Jones’s jealousy over an online relationship between his ex-girlfriend and a male occupant of the targeted house.

The incident occurred on February 10, 2025, when emergency services responded to a devastating house fire on the 5200 block of Merganser Way.

The blaze forced all six adult residents to evacuate, with some resorting to jumping from second-story windows to escape the flames.

Tragically, while the residents survived, their two dogs, Trey and Jett, perished in the fire.

According to ABC News, The home was completely destroyed, resulting in the loss of all personal belongings and cherished memories.

Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s security system provided crucial evidence. The video captured a black sedan arriving at the residence around 5:01 a.m.

An individual was seen exiting the vehicle, proceeding to the rear of the house, and returning to the car approximately ten minutes later.

Shortly after the suspect’s departure, an explosion occurred, engulfing the house in flames.

Investigators utilized intersection cameras and Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) to trace the vehicle’s journey.

The 2021 black Volkswagen Passat, registered in Michigan, was tracked traveling from Michigan to Bensalem before the fire and returning to Michigan afterward.

This led authorities to Harrison Jones, who resided at the same address as the vehicle’s owner.

Upon executing a search warrant at Jones’s residence, law enforcement discovered lock-picking devices, a cell phone, a computer, and observed apparent burn injuries on Jones’s arm.

Further investigation revealed that a 21-year-old male resident of the Bensalem home had been engaged in an online relationship with a woman from Michigan since 2023.

This woman was Jones’s ex-girlfriend. The two had planned to meet in person for the first time in Bensalem during the week of the incident.

However, Jones allegedly undertook the 11-hour drive with malicious intent, culminating in the arson attack.

Harrison Jones has been charged with six counts of attempted homicide, arson, and related offenses. He is currently awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania to face these charges.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been established to support the affected family, identified as Andrew and Stacy Zalenski, their two children, and Stacy’s parents.

The family not only lost their home and possessions but also endured the heartbreak of losing their beloved pets. The community has rallied to assist them during this challenging time.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with online interactions and the extreme consequences that can arise from unmanaged emotions and jealousy.
