(DEVELOPING) A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Columbia, South Carolina, was forced to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after a haze filled the cabin shortly after takeoff.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, involving a Boeing 717 aircraft carrying 94 passengers, two pilots, and three flight attendants.

Upon landing, all individuals on board evacuated safely using emergency slides, with no reported injuries.

A Delta spokesperson stated that the flight crew “followed procedures to return to Atlanta when a haze inside the aircraft was observed after departure.”

The airline arranged ground transportation and rebooking for the affected passengers.

This event marks the third recent safety incident involving Delta Air Lines. On Saturday, February 22, an Airbus A350-900 en route from Los Angeles to Sydney had to return to Los Angeles International Airport after smoke was detected in the galley.

The flight, carrying 162 passengers, landed safely without injuries.

Additionally, last week, a Delta flight operated by Endeavor Air flipped upside down and caught fire upon landing at Toronto Pearson Airport after departing from Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.

Remarkably, all passengers and crew survived, though more than 20 individuals were injured, including three critically.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has initiated an investigation into the latest incident in Atlanta.

Delta Air Lines emphasized that safety remains their top priority and extended apologies to the passengers affected by these events.
