On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced his intention to sign an executive order directing the Pentagon to initiate preparations at Guantanamo Bay for the potential detention of up to 30,000 individuals identified as “criminal illegal aliens.”

During his announcement, Trump emphasized, “Today, I am also signing an executive order that instructs both the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to commence the necessary preparations for a facility capable of housing 30,000 migrants at Guantanamo Bay.

Many Americans are not even aware that such capacity exists.”

The president expressed his belief that Guantanamo Bay, which currently has the infrastructure to accommodate 30,000 beds, is an appropriate location for individuals deemed to pose a significant threat to public safety in the United States.

He asserted that this measure would prevent these detainees from returning to the streets and potentially committing further crimes.

“Some of these individuals are so dangerous that we don’t trust their home countries to keep them contained because we don’t want them coming back into our communities,” Trump added emphatically.

“Our solution is to send them to Guantanamo, which is a notoriously challenging place to gain release from.”

In his remarks, Trump framed the executive order as a critical step towards “eradicating the scourge” of crime associated with illegal migrants within American neighborhoods, aiming for a decisive and comprehensive approach to the issue.

Furthermore, he urged Congress to allocate full funding necessary for the total restoration and reinforcement of U.S. borders, as well as to enhance financial resources aimed at removing unprecedented numbers of illegal immigrants from the country.
