In a recent interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, President Donald Trump called for an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, emphasizing that Russian President Vladimir Putin should not have initiated his large-scale invasion in 2022.

Trump estimated that around 850,000 Russian soldiers and 700,000 Ukrainian soldiers have lost their lives since the conflict began. He described the situation as a tragedy, stating,

“These are human beings that are just being slaughtered on this battlefield by the millions. They’ve already died, and the cities — the cities are like demolition sites.”

Trump criticized former President Joe Biden for his role in allowing the war to escalate, asserting that Biden’s energy policies contributed to Putin’s financial gain.

He expressed that while he believes Putin is at fault for the invasion, there should also be accountability for others involved: “Putin shouldn’t have done it, and it has to stop.”

Additionally, Trump issued a warning to Putin via a post on Truth Social, urging him to negotiate a settlement to end the war. He stated, “Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War!

IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. If we don’t make a ‘deal,’ and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States and various other participating countries.”

During the interview, Trump also mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed a willingness to discuss a resolution to the conflict, suggesting that Zelenskyy feels the toll of the war has become too great.

Trump remarked on Zelenskyy’s position, highlighting the complexity of the situation he faces, as he is up against a significantly larger opponent.
