As devastating as the wildfires across Los Angeles have been, many don’t realize the impact it has on the animals in the region.

An animal charity in Los Angeles is working round the clock to house and treat pets harmed by the wildfires that have devastated the region.

Pasadena Humane said they have taken in over 300 animals and their staff are working nonstop to help treat the pets with burns and injuries.

They wrote on Instagram: ‘These animals are being treated in our ICU. We are providing them with pain medications, wound care, fluid, and oxygen as needed.’

There are currently five wildfires active throughout LA and the neighboring Ventura county, the latest of which, named Kenneth Fire, started on Thursday afternoon and quickly ballooned to cover around 1,000 acres in the west of the city.

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson after he was spotted walking through a neighborhood close to the Kenneth fire holding a blowtorch, although police have said they cannot confirm any connection between the suspect and the wildfires.

The death toll has increased to 10 and over 3,000 buildings have been destroyed by the fires, with officials warning the total numbers will likely rise further over the coming days.

More than 180 GoFundMe pages have been verified and are taking donations for victims of the California wildfires.

‘Across California, wildfires have burned thousands of acres, destroying homes and businesses and forcing thousands to evacuate. You can support those affected by donating to the verified fundraisers on this page,’ states a centralized webpage by GoFundMe.

‘Our Trust & Safety team will continue to update this page with more fundraisers as they are verified.’

Individual pages have been launched for people affected by the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Lidia and Woodley fires. Some of the pages had received tens of thousands of dollars as of Friday afternoon. (READ MORE)
