A swarm of mysterious drone sightings near President-Elect Donald Trump’s New Jersey Bedminster golf club continue to baffle local residents, with some now reporting strange changes to their clocks.
As reported by Fox News, one family in Morris County, who followed a drone in their car, said that as the drone hovered above them, their car’s clock changed time and only returned to normal as they drove off.
Other eyewitnesses described the drones as being as big as small cars and incredibly loud, likening the cluster of drones to a “parade.”
“The drones just keep coming, one after another,” one eyewitness told Fox News. Both the FBI and local police are investigating the sightings, which authorities say have been reported in several areas along the Raritan River since November 18.
This includes Picatinny Arsenal, a military research and manufacturing facility in Rockaway, and Trump’s golf course in Bedminster.
Residents claim the only time that they have not spotted the drones in recent weeks was Thanksgiving Day.
The Federal Aviation Administration has since prohibited drone flights over the golf club until Friday and over the military base until December 26.
In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, law enforcement officials in Morris and Somerset counties acknowledged that they were aware of the ongoing reports and would continue to monitor any drone activity in conjunction with several agencies.
“The subject County Prosecutor’s, Sheriff’s and Emergency Management Offices, our respective municipal police departments, working in close cooperation with the FBI-Newark, the New Jersey State Police, and The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, seek to reassure the public that we will continue to monitor and investigate the drone activity.”
Despite growing concern, authorities say there is currently no known threat to public safety. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy echoed these sentiments after holding a meeting yesterday with Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security, and members of the state’s congressional delegation.
