(OPINION) Former Secretary of State and longtime rival of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton is comparing the former president’s upcoming Madison Square Garden rally to the 1939 pro-Nazi event at the same venue.

The 2016 Democratic presidential nominee told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Thursday that Trump is trying to “reenact” the 1939 Nazi rally at the iconic venue just 6 months before Germany would invade Poland, sparking WW2.

She was echoing sentiments made by former White House chief of staff John Kelly after he said Trump met the “general definition of a fascist.” She urged voters to “open their eyes” and prevent Trump from being elected a second time.

The rally former Sec. Clinton is referring to is scheduled to take place on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, just nine days before Election Day.

Many political strategists have questioned Trump’s choice of venue for the rally as New York is a solid blue state, with little Trump could do in the final days to change the outcome.

“You know, one other thing that you’ll see next week Kaitlan is Trump actually reenacting the Madison Square Garden rally in 1939,” Clinton said.

“Neo-Nazis, fascists, in America were lining up to essentially pledge their support for the kind of government that they were seeing in Germany. So I don’t think we can ignore it.”

Clinton added that people shouldn’t be afraid to compare the rally to the Nazi rally, or to outright call Trump a fascist. She added that people need to “Open your eyes to the dangers this man poses to our country.”

Trump said he will sell out the nearly 20,000 seat arena for Sunday’s rally.
