Iran and its allies are preparing to launch a large-scale attack on “Israeli” forces within the next 72 hours, CNN reported according to a warning from US Department of Defense officials.
The heightened alert follows the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, in Tehran. The assassination significantly raised the stakes in the ongoing aggression between “Israel” and resistance groups in the region.
Political analyst Avi Ashkenazi, writing for the Hebrew newspaper “Maariv,” suggested that Iran’s potential retaliation could be staged from either Lebanon or Iran, or as a coordinated effort between the two.
Ashkenazi reported that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) are bracing for this anticipated response and are implementing extensive defensive measures to counter any possible attack.
Additionally, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed severe retribution against “Israel”.
“We consider it our duty to avenge the blood of Haniyeh that was spilled on the soil of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Khamenei stated.
In response to the assassination, Khamenei ordered a direct assault on “Israeli” targets.
Khalil Al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official, condemned the assassination as an “Israeli” attempt to distract from its failures.
He affirmed that Hamas will persist in its resistance efforts, stating that Haniyeh’s death serves as a powerful symbol of the group’s resolve to continue fighting against Israeli Occupation.
