Israel has put all of its embassies around the world on high alert and warned officials to avoid going out in public as they fear Iranian retaliation.
Itay Blumental, reporter for local Israeli media outlet Channel 11, announced the news on social media platform X. He claimed Israeli representatives in embassies around the world were evacuated to “alternate locations”.
He added that they had also been cautioned to avoid public events as concerns over an Iranian strike on any one of the embassies grows.
He wrote: “As part of the assessments for an Iranian response, we published this evening: the alert level in Israeli embassies around the world has been raised to the maximum level. “A number of missions in several countries were evacuated after a situation assessment by the Shin Bet and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
The reporter added: “Some of the Israeli representatives abroad were moved to alternate locations and were also asked not to attend public events at this time.”
This comes days after an Israeli strike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria killed 11 people. The CIA subsequently warned that it could take Iran as little as 48 hours to respond.
Following the strike, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement reinforcing the gravity of the situation as the country grapples with a “war”.
