Russia will stage its first nationwide nuclear attack exercise across 11 time zones in preparation for a potential nuclear war. It is scheduled to take place on October 3 and will see Vladimir Putin’s regime present the West as a nuclear aggressor.

The one-day nuclear attack exercise, which has only ever been done region by region, will include preparation for the destruction of up to 70% of Russian housing stock and life support facilities. It will assume the scenario that martial law has been introduced in Russia and that is has gone through full mobilization.

The scenario for the test reads: ‘In some constituent entities [regions] of the Russian Federation, as a result of emergencies or other types of physical impact, complete destruction of life support facilities and up to 70% of the housing stock is possible’.

It envisions ‘accidents at hydraulic structures, chemically and radiation hazardous facilities’ resulting in ‘secondary hazards’. Civil servants and regional officials will be ordered to organize ‘non-staff emergency rescue teams’, endure food and medical supplies, and protection from radioactive protection.

Consequently, this drill comes only a day before the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s scheduled nationwide test of the emergency alert system for Oct. 4th.  Here’s what you need to know about the test.

The National Emergency Alert System is designed to alert people of potential dangers like severe weather or national emergencies like a nuclear attack. It’s also used for AMBER alerts and other types of alerts used for vulnerable missing persons.

The current system has been in place since 1997, but previous versions of an alert system have been in use since 1951 when President Harry Truman established CONELRAD, which used specific radio frequencies and was designed to warn citizens of a nuclear attack during the Korean War. In 1963, President John F. Kennedy established the Emergency Broadcast System, which continued to evolve as technology improved.
