(ETH) – Russia is preparing to launch a new submarine equipped with nukes that is capable of wiping out US cities in a chilling warning to US President Joe Biden.

The report details that the launch of the Kazan sub is part of a long-running campaign by Vladimir Putin to modernize Russia’s armed forces and comes during high tension between Russia and the West. This state-of-the-art Kazan submarine is the second Yasen-M vessel and is equipped with nuclear-capable Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles.

The sub’s unveiling on may 7th will come ahead of huge military parades that will commemorate the mark the end of the Second World War in Europe. The Kazan’s development has been shrouded in secrecy and its delivery repeatedly postponed due to unspecified problems.  US intelligence chief Scott Berrier recently stated that the Kazan is a worldwide threat to America when talking to the Senate armed services committee.

Putin also hailed the Mach 8th Zircon as “truly unparalleled”, and has been described as his missile of choice to target American cities in the event of a nuclear conflict. This new report comes as after Russia sent another chilling message to Biden when on Friday it launched a supersonic cruise missile in the Black Sea, where US ships had previously entered.

Meanwhile, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un has also recently warned Biden and the US will face “a very grave situation” following Biden’s recent words against North Korea in his first address to Congress, where he reportedly called North Korea and Iran’s nuclear programs “serious threats” to American and world security and went further to say that he’ll work with allies to address those problems through diplomacy and stern deterrence.
