(OPINION) ETH – Amazon just announced that it is rolling out biometric technology at its Whole Foods stores around Seattle this week that will begin allowing shoppers to pay for items by simply scanning the palm of their hand.
The system is reportedly called Amazon One and allows customers to connect a credit card with their palm print. This will give customers a contact-less alternative to cash and card payments, according to a statement from Amazon.
This new technology is said to stop short of introducing Amazon’s cashier-less technology at Whole Foods, which some critics warn would result in job cuts but Amazon is assuring it will not impact jobs at Whole Foods.
The report reveals that the biometric technology will go live at Whole Foods near its headquarters in Seattle today and will expand to seven more stores in the metro area in the coming months.
This technology is also raising many red flags among evangelicals for fears that it will pave the way for what the Bible calls the “Mark of the Beast” that is mentioned in the Book of Revelation Chapter thirteen that entails a coming system that will require people to use their right hand or forehead to buy sell or trade.
