(OPINION) ETH – Several high-profile conservative figures including radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, along with commentator Dan Bongino, have cut ties with Twitter after the social media network permanently banned President Donald Trump from the platform.
According to TheBlaze, many conservatives took notice that on Friday night Limbaugh’s account was no longer active, causing many to assume that Twitter had also banned him as well. However, Twitter told a CNN reporter that it did not suspend Limbaugh’s account. but Instead, Limbaugh deactivated the account himself.
The report stated that Twitter notes when it suspends an account, writing on a suspended account, “Account suspended” and “Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.” As of Saturday morning, Limbaugh’s account read, “This account doesn’t exist.”
Meanwhile, Dan Bongino, who has nearly 3 million followers on Twitter, also announced his departure from the platform after Twitter temporarily suspended his account on Thursday. Bongino stated: “I’m leaving the platform permanently for Parler. I’ll post my final tweet and message for Twitter tomorrow when the 12-hour lockdown ends,” told the Washington Examiner.
“F*** these a**holes.” He went further to say “Twitter needs me, I don’t need them. I provide them with content. Hopefully, this leads to more high-profile accounts leaving Twitter,” Mark Levin also said that he was departing Twitter for good as well as a “protest” against “Twitter’s fascism.” “I have suspended my own Twitter account in protest against Twitter’s fascism. I ask all my followers to join me now on Parler and Rumble,” Levin announced Friday.
