(ETH) – California has reportedly been rattled by a magnitude 3.7 earthquake that has terrified residents who are claiming it’s the strongest jolt they have felt in years. According to Express, The 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck the region of View Park, Windsor Hills in Los Angeles at approximately 7.03 am (UTC) and was recorded at a depth of about seven miles.
The shaking was felt by hundreds of Californians who recorded their experience on the website EMSC-CSEM. Sports journalist Chris Wesseling said on Twitter: “LA Earthquake, biggest jolt I’ve felt in a few years.” One said: “Shook me awake!” Another said: “Shook my whole apartment building in Inglewood.” Other residents documented their testimonies as well.
A third said: “Holy cr*p, that was intense.” The earthquake has prompted fears of the ‘Big One’, a feared huge earthquake which could cause devastation across California. One Twitter user even posted: “The big one is coming.” Another joked saying: “Jesus, I need you the hear me now.
We’re already in the midst of a pandemic, we don’t need the big one to top it off.” The earthquake follows a swarm of hundreds of mini-quakes has struck California, just miles from the San Andreas fault line, earlier this month. California suffered a 4.9-magnitude earthquake at the start of the month of April, sending strong volts across the US amid fears of an even bigger imminent mega-quake. The earthquake hit 11 miles out of its nearest town Anza, and about 22 miles south of Palm Springs.
