A Catholic nun in Spain has caused outrage after she suggested that the Virgin Mary may not have been a virgin after all. The controversial Dominican nun invited the ire of the Catholic Church who responded to her statements in anger.
Sister Lucia Caram was speaking on a talk show over the weekend when she let slip her belief that contradicts one of the key pillars of her faith. “I think that Mary was in love with Joseph and that they were a normal couple, and the normal
thing is to have sex,” Caram told Risto Mejideon during Sunday’s Chester in Love programme. According to Roman Catholic faith, the Virgin Mary is believed to have become pregnant with Jesus, the son of God, by immaculate conception. “It’s hard to believe and to take in. We’ve stuck with rules that we have invented without reaching the true message,” she added. READ MORE
Clearly this nun is way off track. She needs the Holy Spirit to open her eyes to the truth.
Catholicism is a deep lie anyway folks .They reject follow Catholicism over the bible .In Catholicism Jesus did not died on the cross for all sin .You have to workj or earn forgiveness .That not Christianity that a deep lie .
It is one thing, as a Priest or Nun to not conform in belief to the dogma of the Church and to question these things as all people do; another to profess the lie in direct opposition to the theological doctrine not only of Catholicism but that has been preserved even throughout the reformation and carried throughout the denominations. She should be stripped of her Habit, she is no sister.
Barbara Rood: The Catholic Church teaches none of those beliefs you listed.
Birth of Jesus Foretold
26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed[a] to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”[b] 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”[c]
35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born[d] will be called holy—the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant[e] of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Luke 1:26-38
Either you believe the Bible is the supernaturally God-breathed holy word of truth or you don’t.
She is in the wrong profession. Maybe start her own nude rap ban and join the rest of
The unbelievers!
That’s no one’s secret. Of course Marry was not a virgin, and of course Marry and Jesus were a couple in love, and as the story goes, they had three children, two daughters and one son. What is wrong with that? A lovely couple in love. The Catholic church lies as they have always lied to protect their believes and mislead the masses.
You get the most noise from the emptiest barrels. People like her who love to talk about that which they are unqualified usually end up in politics but I guess a nun has the same rights as any fool. She could be preparing a warm place for herself. I hope her 15 minutes of fame is worth the risk.
This nun is like some of the bad apples planted by the devil to disrupt the Catholic church. She is probably using her own less than acceptable standards as a nun to image Virgin Mary. It’s time she dropped the habit.
The Catholic church has always maintained that Mary was and is “ever Virgin”. This is part of the Creed and if sister doesn’t believe it, she is a self proclaimed heretic. The Church espouses sex as created by God and it is a beautiful and wonderful gift in marriage that few understand in our age. Mary and Joseph did not think sex is dirty either, they believed it was a holy state as God created it but they chose to give that voluntarily to God. Mary’s spotless body and soul was the Tabernacle of Jesus. What other human being would be appropriate in that sublime sanctuary. The Church and all who believe reject totally sister’s idle and blasphemous idea. We totally agree and believe that Joseph and Mary gave their virginity to God. Joseph was Mary’s protector in every way. That they loved one another does not have to include sex but there are some who cannot understand this in the marital state yet there are many examples in the lives of the saints where this was chosen as a gift to God.
The person you call sister seems to be totally out of place in the convent of a Catholic Order of nuns, in fact, she seems to be out of place in the Catholic Church. We advise her to “take a hike’ she speaks like a devil who looks for fools to believe such unbelievable lies. No serious Cathholic or any other real student of Jesus or even the Bible would believe or entertain her absurd and blasphemous ideas. May God forgive her for her hypocrisy and venom which spills out from her unseemly habited head, empty of grace. The Church has always had its share of fools – she is another example clanging in the wind, ignored for the most part – when she meets God at the judgement I would not want to be in her shoes.
The (good?) sister professes to love God. Has she had sex with God?
Or is this just wishful thinking on her part?
That Mary was a virgin is in the Gospels. But we have to remember that those Gospels were written about 100 years after Jesus’ death. Therefore, the writers of the Gospels very likely made up the virgin story to somehow make the whole idea of a virgin birth more in line with the Christian dogma of the day. And it has since become “truth”. But since the gospel writers weren’t around when Jesus was born, how would they know> Therefore, I am with the Spanish nun on this one.
