A new law in France bans spanking of children, making it the 52nd country to prohibit the practice. The law, known as the “equality and citizenship bill,” was passed in France on Dec. 22, according to Marta Santos Pais, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) on Violence against Children. It forbids “all cruel degrading or
humiliating treatment, including corporal punishment,” by parents, according to the SRSG. The ban falls under the country’s civil law, which means that people who break the law will not face criminal charges. “This law is a very strong symbolic act to make parents understand just how all violence can be harmful for the child,” Dr. Gilles Lazimi, who led an anti-spanking campaign for the Foundation for Childhood in France. A complete crock! I have six children & would never dream of NOT spanking them. My wife & I were both spanked, I was routinely, and we are both well adjusted members of society that love & care for patients at our local hospital every day. We have great incomes, a beautiful 4800sq ft home, & all of our children are in private school. Looks like we turned out ok. So much for science! An anomaly? I don’t think so. Most of our friends grew up in the exact same environment.
Spanking is taught in the Bible. I guess back then they didn’t have knowledgeable scientists to tell them they were wrong. So glad we are now so enlightened. Just like anything else, it’s just another tactic by the god of this world to tear down the family & turn out children who learn that disobedience carries no real consequences. This stupidity subsequently produces more children who have no desire to obey the law as adults. More lying, cheating, and stealing from their employers, if they can get a job, and a larger weight on society. Imagine how their kids will turn out with parents like this. Slowly our society declines until the world is in chaos. Thank God we have those scientists to keep that from happening!
Most kids before the 1960’s were respectful, polite, and obedient to their elders. Then the anti-spanking police showed up & our society got better right?
