Flashy worship services are not attracting the Millennial generation to church. In fact, the authors of the new book, Growing Young: Six Essential Strategies to Help Young People Discover and Love Your Church, say the younger generation is exchanging “cool” for “warmth.” “When we spoke to more than 1,300 young churchgoers, ages 15 to 29, they told us what they want: authenticity and connection. In a word: warmth,” an excerpt from the book reads, published in The Washington Post.
Terms that young adults used to describe their ideal place of worship included: welcoming, accepting, belonging, authentic, hospitable, and caring. The findings are called the “warmth cluster” and it’s more important than having a lot of ministry programs, which can be a turnoff. For many Millennials “busyness does not equal warmth,” the authors say. READ MORE
Hey. I have an idea. How bout giving them the gospel? Worked for the apostles.
Hey!
I have an idea. Why not try giving them the gospel. Worked for the apostles.
We are the “new agers” and we wonder why the church hasn’t caught up with the scientific community which seems to be capturing the minds of millennials by the millions. As a millennial myself, I have taken the bible apart put it back together in scientific and modern day terms and have posted in on Instagram. I have to say, that the feedback has been amazing! Scientists are right about a lot the traditional church disagrees with such as the earth being billions of years old. The bible actually details the very premise modern science has offered us as to how we got here (with the exception of evolution which is wholly false) with perfect accuracy, we’ve literally been reading the bible wrong this entire time! Nowhere does the bible say that Adam what they first man on earth, I challenge one to find the verse… There where more before him, he is simply the first man in the bloodline of Jesus. When Eve was glad that she would be the “mother of all the living,” that was actually a reference to the eternally living through Christ. Christ even called Himself the last “Adam” or “man” which clearly he wasn’t in terms of men that have walked the earth after Him… The same figure of speech is used at the beginning. The earth is Billions of years old, the Angels were made of fire during the molten era of the universe (Hebrews 1:7)… Lucifer himself walked the fiery stones (Ezekiel 28:14) in the garden of Eden when the surface of the earth was hot. Then God cooled the earth with water when lucifer fell, (2 Peter 3:3-9)and the earth was “formless and void”… The earth cooled and even froze over as detailed in the “snowball earth” theory … This is also described in the book of Job 38. It’s time we take another look at the bible and reconsider our position within the scientific community.
Oh my poor Allie, I pray that God will open your eyes and understand His word clearly and help you learn to discern truth from error… What you said makes absolutely no sense to what the scriptures are actually talking about. Ask the holy spirit to help you understand Gods word and what the verses mean…
