Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas has promised to “drop a bombshell” at the end of his upcoming speech before the United Nations, according to a tweet on Wednesday night. Abbas will not, however, “reveal the nature of this bombshell,” journalist Khaled Abu Toameh’s tweet added. Senior PA official Nabil Shaath claimed earlier this week that Abbas would use his speech before the UN General Assembly in late September to nullify some fundamental clauses of the Oslo Accords.

“Israel implements only [clauses of the Oslo Accords] which serve her and her interests. So we, too, will act similarly,” Shaath told Palestinian news agency Ma’an. “Abbas will state things clearly – after 22 years, we have not achieved anything out of the Oslo Accords.” Reports surfaced last week that Abbas was planning to do away entirely with the 1993 agreement, and will officially announce the move at the UN General Assembly later this month.
