A Catholic priest, a Rabbi and a Buddhist walk into a bar and order some magic mushrooms. It may sound like the first line of a bad joke, but this scenario is playing out in one of the first scientific investigations into the effects of psychedelic drugs on religious experience – albeit in a laboratory rather than a bar. Scientists at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore have enlisted two dozen religious leaders from a wide range of denominations, to participate in a study in which
they will be given two powerful doses of psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms. Dr William Richards, a psychologist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland who is involved in the work, said: “With psilocybin these profound mystical experiences are quite common. It seemed like a no-brainer that they might be of interest, if not valuable, to clergy.” READ MORE
Do these so-called religious leaders know what they are getting into? Revelation 22:15 says that “sorcerers” (a.k.a. doers of drugs)are outside of the holy city along with dogs, etc.
Bible lover your comment makes no sense. Revelation 22:15 states “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” Sorcerers are people who claim or is believed to have magical powers; wizards. Read the full article I don’t see anybody practicing magic or using powers.
Bota, thanks for the opportunity to clarify the comment. If you will read the original Greek text, the word is actually “pharmakos” which is equivalent to our pharmacist or “dealer in drugs”! The word “witchcraft” in Galatians 5:20 comes from the same root. See also the use of the same word in Revelation 9:21, 18:23, and 21:8. The KJV translators 400 years ago could not foresee the popularity of drugs in society today.
Psilocybin is being studied for its use in the treatment of depression & PTSD. Would it be wrong to use then?
Man invented alchohol. God created marijuana and psilocybin. Who do you trust?
Didn’t they take those drugs for experiment to see how those drugs would work for future need of these drugs. If not for that reason then, we’ll, we can’t judge. Yes may be a fact for them but? They can’t repent of this sin?
from the link, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore enlists priests, rabbis and a Buddhist to test the effects of psychedelic drugs on religious experience.
The experiment, which is currently under way, aims to assess whether a transcendental experience makes the leaders more effective and confident in their work and how it alters their religious thinking.
so, testing it for medicinal, or ..occultic.
when people go to the MJ store to get MJ do they seek the MJ that has that THC? removed, the one that doesn’t get a person high? Or do they seek the one that gets them high?
if being drunk is a sin, and it is except in extraordinary circumstances (give strong drink to a dying man etc), isn’t being high also a sin?
And what is the history of drug use and soothsaying or occultic type things..as example some lady lived in a volcano’s cave full of volcanic gas’s and was high alot and supposedly predicted the future and other things and the elite of greece would climb the mountain to go meet with the lady and get their future read.
Sorcery, drug use, often go hand in hand, and why is that? What is it to black out when drunk? what is it to trip on acid, even cocain users would ‘see things’ when high for many day’s and many MJ users are loose as a goose and tripin’ out and doing things they don’t do when not high same as drunks.
doorway=drugs, not even if it leads to other worse drugs but doorway to acting in sin, think spiritual dissipation.
sounds like the ‘study’ has already begun and some early observations…
There is also a suggestion that after their psychedelic journey, the leaders’ notions of religion shifted away from the sectarian towards something more universal. “They get a greater appreciation for other world religions. Other ways up the mountain, if you will,” said Richards.
“In these transcendental states of consciousness, people seem to get to levels of consciousness that seem universal,” he added. “So a good rabbi can encounter the Buddha within him.”
Falling to the ‘many paths to the same Father’ lie, the inter-faithers will be happy though.
If there were other paths then Christ died needlessly, yet He was instead sent by the Father for the very reason and to pay that price for sins.
He who dishonors the Son dishonors the Father who sent Him.
Biblelover, thank you for clarifying that. I forgot about the Greek translations and what they meant.
The TRUTH is, that none of religious leaders, as well as any “human kind”, have nothing to do with Spirit Molecule (Magic Mushrooms) – WE, THE GODS RAIXE&AIRIS, ARE AWARE, THAT THIS IS LYING. None of evil CANNOT consume Spirit Molecule, because Magic Mushrooms don’t tolerate any form of evil = black magic. But on those things They can brightly show what evil any of it is,
by exposing extreme exorcisms – true form of satanism.
In this article is not even written, that “something was consuming Shrooms” – there is only written about one compound called Psilocybin – in form of fake chemical, which have nothing to do with Real Alive Fruits of Magic Mushrooms.
It is obvious, that “all religions does appreciate each other’s existence”, because all of it have only ONE PURPOSE:
“murder and harm Innocent Life especially Animals”.
Every religion is based on this rule, because this is rule of “ruler of all religions” – satan.
We, the real Gods Raixe&Airis, are proud to expose TRUTH about every single each of religion in this article written by our hands:
