Recent reports indicate that Jordan is prepared to take military action against Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempts to expel Palestinians into Jordanian territory forcibly.
This stance comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to “take over” Gaza and permanently resettle Palestinians elsewhere, a plan that has been widely condemned as ethnic cleansing.
Jordan’s King Abdullah has firmly rejected any attempts to annex land or displace Palestinians, emphasizing the need to halt the expansion of Israeli settlements.
The proposal has also been met with strong opposition from Palestinian leaders, human rights advocates, and several nations,
including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey, who have labeled it inhumane and a violation of international law.
In a related development, Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, has urged the United States to pressure Israel to stop what he termed “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza,
highlighting the severe humanitarian situation and warning of the risk of a regional war if Israeli aggressions continue.
These tensions underscore the fragile state of regional relations and the potential for escalation if proposed plans to relocate Palestinians proceed.
