Two employees of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority have been apprehended in connection with a leaked video that depicted a tragic midair collision between a military helicopter and a commercial jet.
Mohamed Lamine Mbengue, aged 21, from Rockville, Maryland, was arrested on January 31 and subsequently charged with computer trespass under Virginia law.
He was processed at the Arlington County Adult Detention Center and later released, according to a spokesperson for the Airports Authority.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Savoy, aged 45, from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who was charged with computer trespass on February 2.
Savoy was released after receiving a summons from a magistrate.
Both individuals are alleged to have made unauthorized copies of Airports Authority records; however, officials have not disclosed the methods by which the footage was obtained or disseminated.
The leaked video, which reportedly aired on CNN, captured the moment a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided midair with an American Airlines Bombardier jet during a nighttime training operation.
