The headquarters of Focus on the Family was hit by vandals in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The attackers blamed the Christian organization for causing the mass shooting that left five people dead at a gay nightclub.

“Their blood is on your hands, the attackers wrote on the front sign of the building. “Five lives taken.” Investigators say the person responsible is actually a member of the LGBT community. The attacker says he is non-binary and goes by the pronouns “they/them.”

Television station KKTV reports “someone tried to conceal the graffiti with a tarp and cardboard, but as of Friday the tarp had fallen off, leaving much of the wording visible”

Focus on the Family has long been a target of dangerous LGBT activists because of its belief that marriage is between one man and one woman. The evangelical group has faced accusations of being homophobic. Focus president Jim Daly told Fox 21 News that he condemned the vandalism.

“We recognize the community is hurting in the aftermath of the reckless and violent actions of a very disturbed individual. This is a time for prayer, grieving, and healing, not vandalism and the spreading of hate. Focus on the Family is privileged to be one of many organizations in our city positioned to help and support the needs of struggling individuals and families.” But he also affirmed that his organization is praying for the victims of the mass shooting.
