(OPINION) ETH – Historically, General George Washington was the first to proclaim a national day of “fasting and prayer.” and President Trump asked God to deliver us from the coronavirus, invoking a passage of Scripture from the New Testament. However, the current administration chose to not petition God, but instead petition social justice warriors.

President Biden reportedly called on Americans to use prayer to fight against racial injustice, child labor, and the infringement on the rights of disabled Americans. Instead of quoting from scripture, Biden reportedly quoted from the writings of the late Congressman John Lewis — noting that human beings are – and I quote – the most dynamic link to the divine on planet Earth.

The son of the late Billy Graham, Franklin Graham, was left baffled of why Biden would omit God. “I was deeply saddened to read that President Biden is the first president to omit the word ‘God’ in his proclamation,” Graham wrote on Facebook. “That speaks volumes doesn’t it?” It does, indeed.

“It is hard to believe we have come this far,” Graham wrote. “Omitting God is a dangerous thing. He is who we as individuals and as a nation need to call on for help. He created us and made salvation possible for us through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Prayers to anyone or anything else are to no avail. Join me in praying to Almighty God on behalf of our nation.”
