(ETH) – The dust has settled after a day of chaos in Washington, DC after thousands of protesters overwhelmed police and breached the building in an unprecedented assault on the Democratic process resulting in 4 deaths and at least 50 arrested.

Mayor Muriel Bowser has also recently announced a 15-day extension of the public emergency “to ensure peace and security” through the January. 20th inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. President Trump has also promised an “orderly transition” after Congress early Thursday officially certified the Electoral College vote that gave Democrat Joe Biden his presidential victory.

Dan Scavino, the White House deputy chief of staff, posted a statement from Trump on Twitter that called for calm in the early hours of Thursday morning. “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” the statement read.

“I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!” Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have also temporarily suspended the president from posting on their platforms.
