(ETH) – Law enforcement in Washington, D.C., is on high alert for what they believe could be more civil unrest coming on Inauguration Day is January 20th. According to CBS News, “That is the next date on the calendar that the Pro-Trump and other nationalist crowds will potentially converge on the Capitol again.”

This follows the riot that broke out at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. According to the report, some of those involved in Wednesday’s attack has reportedly remained in the area and law enforcement are concerned they may also be planning more attacks in the city and on federal buildings in the coming days.

Both Police and the FBI are actively searching airports and hotels across the city for the rioters who ransacked the Capitol. More than 50 people have already been charged with crimes related to the violence. Fox News reported that acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen has vowed that pro-Trump rioters who entered the U.S. Capitol would “face the full consequences of their actions under the law,” and those consequences could include being charged under President Trump’s executive order authorizing up to 10 years in prison for “injury of federal property.”

CBS News also reported that there has also been a slew of chatter on social media regarding what could be a new threat on Inauguration Day. Washington, DC, has dispatched more than 6,000 National Guard members from DC and surrounding areas and elsewhere as well as a 7-foot tall fence has been erected around the U.S. Capitol. Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence announced just after 3:40 a.m. on Thursday that President-elect Joe Biden has officially won the presidency after Congress reportedly completed the counting of the Electoral College votes.
