(ETH)- An unsolved mystery has gripped a town in Michigan. According to reports, a missing Bay City couple and their seven-month-old sons were recently found dead in northern Michigan over the weekend.

According to the report from MichiganLive,  Amanda Pomeroy and Douglas Dougherty, and their infant son Jacob Dougherty, had been missing since Tuesday, Jan. 12th, and were officially reported missing on Saturday, Jan. 16th and was reportedly visiting their family near Rose City, located in Ogemaw County.

According to the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office, there had been leads on the missing family for some time before the afternoon hours of Saturday, Jan. 23rd, after a snowmobiler found the family’s pickup truck. It was then that the snowmobiler stopped to investigate the empty truck and discovered the family of three deceased outside the vehicle.

The report reveals that the truck appeared to have been stuck on a large rock and Dougherty was trying to get it unstuck, Gilbert said. The missing person case was closed after their bodies were found outside of the vehicle leading local police in charge of investigating the deaths.

The case is still under investigation by the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office. “There’s a lot of unanswered questions that we need to know,” he said. “We’re doing autopsies right now, so we’ll have some final answers (soon).”
