(ETH) – The FBI has reportedly informed law enforcement agencies that devoted followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory and far-right ‘lone wolves’ are conspiring plans online to infiltrate President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration by posing as National Guard members.

According to the details of the report from The Washington Post, an FBI document warned that QAnon believers and other far-right extremists have conspired a plan to pose as National Guard members in Washington D.C. and have observed people downloading and sharing maps of sensitive locations in the national capital with the intent to use those facilities to interfere with the event’s security.

However, the warning does not highlight any specific threat, but instead to “suspicious traffic” that has been picked up from systems and platforms used by the extremist groups. The report is not specific regarding what platforms were being monitoring,

The report states many QAnon believers and right-wing groups have embraced alternate social media platforms following the removal of many of them from the likes of Facebook and Twitter and that alternative Platforms like Gab and Rumble have seen an uptick in their user base.
