(OPINION) ETH – As President Trump was preparing to leave the White House yesterday to his successor, Joe Biden, China Xinhua News, which is the official news agency of China, took to their platform to mock Trump’s exit and implicitly celebrated Biden’s ascension to the presidency, even tweeting, “Good Riddance, Donald Trump!”
The post was linked to a column that blasted the waning days of the Trump administration as a “preposterous show” and decried allied politicians for continued efforts to impose economic and diplomatic sanctions on Beijing.
Following that Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying blasted former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a press conference calling him a “doomsday clown.” This comes as Trump and his relationship with China was definitely a tumultuous one while he remained in office with the exchange of sanctions and boycotts that lasted throughout the Trump administration 4 years in the White House.
