(ETH) – President Biden is reportedly preparing to reverse a Trump administration policy that prohibits U.S. funding for nongovernmental groups that provide or refer patients for abortions.

This is likely to be the first of several moves that reproductive rights advocates are anticipating to see come from the Biden administration. The report reveals that Reproductive rights groups are pleading with Biden to reverse a long list of Trump administration policies related to abortion, contraception, and reproductive health.

According to NPR, They’ are also pushing for a reversal of the Hyde Amendment, which is a long-standing prohibition on federal funding for most abortions. When recently questioned about the policy by a reporter with the Catholic network EWTN, press secretary Jen Psaki stated that she would provide more information in the coming days, and stressed that Biden is “a devout Catholic and somebody who attends church regularly.”
