(OPINION) ETH – According to a new report from Popular Mechanics, Earth has been pulsating every 26 seconds for the past 60 years, and it has left scientists unable to give an explanation. There are many theories behind this phenomenon, such as it could be a harmonic phenomenon, a regular seismic chirp caused by the sun’s energy, or a beacon drawing scientists to its source to begin a treasure hunt according to the report.
According to the report, the mysterious activity was first discovered in the 1960s, by a geologist named Jack Oliver who first documented the pulse, which is also known as a “microseism,” according to Discover. Oliver, who worked at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory at the time, heard the noise but didn’t have possession of advanced instruments seismologists now have at their disposal. From that time forward, scientists have spent much time listening to the pulse and even finding out where it comes from: “a part of the Gulf of Guinea called the Bight of Bonny,”.
According to the report from Discover. Popular Mechanics states that some of the researchers believe the pulse has a kind of prosaic cause. “Under the world’s oceans, the continental shelf acts as a gigantic wave break—it’s the boundary off the very far edge of, for example, the North American continental mass where the highest part of the plate finally falls off into the deep abyssal plain. Scientists have theorized that as waves hit this specific place on the continental shelf in the Gulf of Guinea, this regular pulse is produced.”
It is interesting to note that the Bible gives some references to the Earth producing such activity as described here. For example in the Book of Romans the eighth chapter it states: “20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.” also the Word of God also tells us that the Earth will experience “Birth Pangs” until humanity experiences the second coming of Christ.
These Birth Pangs are referenced to the intensity and increase of events that will take place in the World that is mentioned in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13 in regards to natural disasters, plagues, wars, and famines. According to the words of Christ, Earth will undergo intense labor pains as we approach the end of the Age.
