UPDATE (ETH) – Hurricane Zeta slammed Louisiana and Mississippi coasts coming ashore as a Category 2 hurricane leaving at least one death, and nearly 2 million people without power, and widespread damage across the region.
Although downgraded to a tropical storm, Zeta continues racing northeast across the southern US before it is expected to move out to sea off the mid-Atlantic coast later this evening. Authorities continue to warn of strong wind gusts, downed trees, and power lines, leading to more power outages.
The storm has left multitudes across several states without power as the website PowerOutage.us is revealing that 1.8 million are already left without power in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. All these areas have already suffered power outages several times this hurricane season.
CBN started that Zeta was the 27th named storm of a record-making Atlantic hurricane season and the 11th named storm to make landfall in the US in a single season, topping the previous record of nine storms that hit in 1916.
