(OPINION) ETH – Many believe the recent peace treaty between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is linked to prophecies foretold in the Bible.

The claims are stemmed from the recent announcement of The UAE becoming the first Arab state to officially normalize diplomatic relations with Israel with the signing of a historic peace deal. This peace treaty deemed as the “Abraham Accord” was announced on August 13th, and outlines Israel’s plan to stop annexing Palestinian territories in the West Bank.

As a result of this, some Bible Prophecy teachers see this peace deal as a sign of biblical prophecy unfolding. UK Website, Express recently reported that according to the blog Bible Prophecy – Signposts of the Times, the treaty could be related to something known as the Gog-Magog alliance.

Gog and Magog appear in the Bible’s Old Testament as both individuals and lands that will oppose Israel, although their exact nature is never fully revealed. Many have linked the figure of Gog to the Antichrist, who will arrive just before the Last Judgement.

The names also appear in the New Testament’s Book of Revelation, where it is said Satan will be set forth to deceive the nations “in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog”. According to Signposts of the Times, the Israel peace deal could be linked to Gog and Magog through Ezekiel 38.

The blog stated: “According to some of the commentaries on Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 38, the location of Ancient Sheba and Dedan was in Arabia. “Present-day United Arab Emirates, which has just agreed to a peace deal with Israel, is located on the Arabian Peninsula.

“Might Ezekiel have been referring to this present day location and nations when he penned his prophecy centuries ago?” Ezekiel 38:13-14 reads: “Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, ‘Have you come to plunder?

Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?’ “‘Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In that day when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it?'”

According to Signposts of the Times, the Prophet Daniel may have also made mention of an even greater peace deal for the Middle East. Daniel 9:27 reads: “He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ “In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. “And at the temple, he will set up an abomination that causes desolation until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.”

Signposts of the Times said: “At the very same time that nations are confirming peace deals with Israel, the other nations mentioned by the Prophet Ezekiel are also firming up their ongoing hatred of the Jewish State. “Both Turkey and Iran are declaring that the peace deal with Israel is the ‘worst nightmare’ and a ‘dagger in the backs of the Palestinians’.

“It seems that the alliances of Ezekiel’s prophecy, (Gog/Magog), are coming together in rapid progression. “This news is very important as it indicates that the pieces of the puzzle continue to formulate in this mosaic of End-Times events.
