(ETH) – The US reaches a new record death toll for the number of coronavirus deaths reported in a single day, As the Daily Mail reported 1,917 fatalities in just 24 hours. The report indicated that the previous record for the newest US COVID-19 deaths in a single day was on April 4th with a spike of 1,344 cases, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
There are now 402,383 cases of coronavirus reported as of Tuesday evening. In the US there’s a reported fatality rate of 3.2 percent from the virus. More than 22,000 people have recovered from respiratory illness. Governor. Andrew Cuomo of New York reported another record day of deaths in his state as the virus claimed 779 more lives.
However, in what seems to be good news, Cuomo stated that the curve is flattening in regard to the number of new cases. He stated that the hospitalizations are down and some hospitals are releasing more patients than they take in. Meanwhile, in the UK, The 24-hour death toll of 938 has reportedly surpassed Italy’s worst day raising the total death toll past 7,000 in the United Kingdom.
