(ETH) – A powerful system producing severe storms continued to move across the South on Thursday after spawning tornadoes that killed at least five people and injured dozens more in Texas and Oklahoma on Wednesday, While Flooding in Louisiana has killed at least one person.

According to reports from the Weather Channel, Tornado warnings have already been issued for parts of Mississippi and Alabama on Thursday morning.  The report indicated that a large tornado tore across the southeast Texas town of Onalaska in Polk County about 6 p.m. CDT on Wednesday killing three people and injuring twenty to thirty, according to Polk County Emergency Management Agency.

Meanwhile, Ten subdivisions sustained damage in the town of about 1,800 people 75 miles north of Houston. The Storm caused Polk County Judge Sydney Murphy to issue a declaration of disaster. The storm moved east across Tyler, Jasper, and Newton counties before sliding into Louisiana. Numerous homes were also reported to be destroyed or damaged in Onalaska. Two people were also killed when a tornado struck the town of Madill, Oklahoma leaving one person critically injured as well.
