(ETH) – According to reports from the Weather Channel, A large tornado has reportedly struck southern Oklahoma, killing at least one as severe storms have fired up in the Southern Plains.  According to the Marshall County Emergency Management, KFOR.com one person has been killed by a tornado that struck the town of Madill, Oklahoma, on Wednesday evening.

Southwest of the town, vehicles were also reported flipped over and major damage was reported in the area of a J&I Manufacturing Inc. facility. The tornado struck the town at about 5 p.m. CDT on Wednesday. It wasn’t immediately known if there were any injuries in addition to death.

Madill is a town of about 3,800 residents and is located 100 miles southeast of Oklahoma City, near the Texas border. At least one large tornado was also reported in eastern Texas. Storm spotters had tracked the twister as it was in progress near the town of Onalaska, and damage was reported shortly after.
