(SF Gate) – A 3.9 earthquake shook the Central California area near Hollister this morning. The US Geological Survey reports that the shaker, which occurred at 7:21 a.m., was the third earthquake to rattle the area on Tuesday. The earthquake was located 14.1 km (8.7 mi) from Tres Pinos, 20 km (12.5 mi) SE from Pinnacles, 22.2 km (13.8 mi) NNW from Hollister and 31.2 km (19.4 mi) W from Salinas. It had a measured depth of 8.0 kilometers.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, pair of earthquakes shook the same Central California area. A shaker with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 struck at 1:34 a.m. Eight minutes later, at 1:42 a.m., a 3.2 shaker shook the area. The 3.5 quake hit had a depth of 7.6 kilometers. It was located 8.9 miles from Tres Pinos, 12.2 miles from Pinnacles and 14 miles from Hollister. The 3.2 quake had a depth of 5.6 kilometers. READ MORE
