(ABC 13) – A 14-week-old baby defied the odds by waking up from a five-day coma after doctors said he wouldn’t. CNN reports that baby Michael woke up and recognized his dad and flashed an adorable ear to ear smile. “It’s a moment I will cherish with every inch of my heart,” Emma Labuschagne, Michael’s mother, told CNN. “To be really honest, it’s got to be the happiest moment of my life. He is a living miracle, and we have never felt prouder of him.”

According to Michael’s parents Emma and Stuart Labuschagne, he was diagnosed with a rare heart tumor. Doctors told them that his condition is so rare that no surgeon in the UK would have the expertise to remove it. Emma says they were given the option to find a surgeon outside the country. That’s when they found out about Boston Children’s Hospital, a U.S. facility whose Cardiac Tumor Program boasts a 100% survival rate over the past 10 years, according to CNN. READ MORE
