OPINION (FaithWire) – With no possible way to back up her statement, actor and activist Alyssa Milano recently claimed her life would be “lacking all its great joys” if she hadn’t chosen to terminate two of her pregnancies in 1993, when she was in her early 20s. “My life would be completely lacking all its great joys,” she said on a recent episode of “Sorry Not Sorry,” her podcast, according to Yahoo Entertainment. “I would never had been free to be myself — and that’s what this fight is all about: freedom.” In recent months, Milano has become a leading advocate for abortion access and has made a name for herself opposing President Donald Trump.

The former “Charmed” star explained she terminated the two pregnancies, which  occurred back-to-back, when she “was in love for the first time in the breathless way you can only be in love when you are young.” She went on to describe her romance with the undisclosed man as “huge — overwhelming even. It filled every part of living. It was a joyful and exciting and powerful time in my life.” Milano was on birth control at the time because she knew she was “not ready” to be a mother at that point in her life. She was also taking an acne-fighting medication, Accutane, which is known to cause birth defects during pregnancy—patients taking it are required to use birth control.
