(WYFF) – Taylor Burch and his dog Indy — short for Independence — formed their friendship in 2015. Burch, 29, is legally blind; he cannot see out of his right eye and has limited use of his left. He’s never had a problem getting places with the help of Indy, until Sunday. “I’ve never been denied access and never in a million years would I think it’d be a church,” he said,” Burch said.

At the Lowcountry Community Church, there was a “No Animals” policy written on the outside, but Butch says he didn’t see it. He was first let in for Sunday service, and while looking for a seat was asked to leave. “Humiliated,” Burch said of his feelings. “I felt like this guy was joking.” Burch’s sister posted his story on Facebook, where it was shared thousands of times with hundreds of replies in the comment section.
