OPINION (FW) – The abortion debate has so permeated our culture that a tweet from the restaurant chain IHOP commemorating Mother’s Day became an instant lightning rod of senseless controversy. Adweek even claimed the tweet in question, which showed a giant stack of pancakes inside a womb via sonogram, “traumatized the internet.” The issue, you ask?

Well, by displaying a stack of ready-to-eat pancakes inside the womb, IHOP’s marketing team unwittingly sided with those in the pro-life camp. Just like pro-lifers believe a pregnant woman is carrying a human life inside her womb, and not just a collection of tissue, it appears IHOP believes the fictitious pile of pancakes is already formed inside the womb, rather than just a wad of uncooked batter and butter.
