(Express) – The epicenter was located 134 miles south of Levuka, 260 km 162 miles southeast of Labasa and 192 miles southeast of Suva. There are about 6,000 people living within 62 miles. The quake was followed by a magnitude 4.8 at 8:23UTC at a depth of 354.3 miles. No tsunami warnings have been issued following the quake and no damage was reported.

Fiji sits on the Pacific ‘Ring of Fire’, a 25,000 mile-long area in which some 90 percent of the world’s earthquakes occur.
