(TWC) Widespread flooding and severe thunderstorms, including the possibility of long-track tornadoes, are likely Saturday in parts of the South and Ohio Valley in what may be the most widespread severe weather event of this winter, so far. Moisture is expected to surge northward Saturday associated with Winter Storm Quiana, amping up the risk of both flooding and severe weather.

Continuing the streak of week-long rainfall, showers and thunderstorms continue to move through much of the South and mid-South, increasing the threat of flooding this weekend. A flash flood emergency has been issued for the Knoxville, Tennessee, area where up to 3 inches of rain has fallen over the last three to four hours with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected over the next couple of hours.
