(KTUU) – A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit around 80 miles southwest of Adak just before 10:00 a.m. The Alaska Earthquake Center says the earthquake struck in the same area as a 6.5 magnitude earthquake Aug. 15 and a 6.3 magnitude earthquake Aug. 23.

The earthquake was recorded as having hit at a depth of 9.6 miles. According to the Alaska Earthquake Center, the shaker was not felt by anyone. The National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer recorded the same earthquake and quickly announced that a tsunami was not expected. READ MORE
