Murphy, a gay Christian activist who is also co-founder of theology website Queer Theology, claimed Tuesday that Jesus is polyamorous and it is a biblical relationship model that Christians can pursue. “I’m a Christian and I’m polyamorous. I’m also kind of a slut. Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, said he made the video to help other Christians come out as polyamorous to their church or help them accept that “marriage can be polyamorous.” “Jesus is polyamorous. We know this already if we don’t think about it or put it in those terms. If you’re one of those Christians who believes in having a personal relationship with Jesus, well Jesus is having personal relationships with billions of other people. It’s so easy to construe the Bible any way you wish, especially when YOU become the author. Many of us do this to a lesser degree. We lift out the bits and pieces we like and ‘agree’ with and make our own pretty collage out of it. And then we use the fact that we are ‘quoting from Scripture’ to add weight to whatever our argument is. Even politicians are doing it. Satan does it best. Quoting/using/claiming Scripture does not automatically endorse what we believe, or what we wish to believe. Only a heart that seeks God in spirit and in truth will be able to avoid this trap. Do we really want to know what God has to say to us? Or do we really just want HIM to AGREE that WE know best? Even the Lord Jesus ‘learned obedience through the things He suffered’. He above ALL people Did NOT just do what ever He wanted to do. Note that even though He was born to lay down His life for us, that He stopped on the way to the cross and offered it back to God, expressing His desire for GOD’s Will to be done, not His own! He did NOTHING of Himself, but what He heard from the Father. Yet we PRESUME, constantly to put God in the box of our own making. God is not mocked, and He WILL judge us all. We can either leave what we ‘believe’ at the cross as we present ourselves to Him, or we can pretend that we serve Him, when we enjoy the seeming autonomy of serving ourselves.
And for those who wonder why, it’s because the relationship between a man and a woman is a perfect illustration and foreshadowing of God’s Plan. He desired from before the foundation of the world to make a creature compatible with Himself. We alone in the Universe, have that capacity. Our Lord Jesus prayed in Jn 17 that God would make us One with Him and the Father. The infilling of the Holy Spirit is the answer to that prayer. We are made New Creatures…the sons of God by His indwelling. THAT was the PLAN. THAT is the REASON for all things as we know them. Note the correlation as we see Adam created without a mate, and the record of his ‘association’ with every creature (as he named them). He realize that there was no one compatible with him, and THEN God pulled Eve out of his side. She was made especially for him, which is an illustration for us to understand, and WHY any perversion of the husband wife relationship is abominable to God. Satan always perverts God’s truth, and attempts to undermine and undo God’s Word.
