Tens of thousands of dead fish have washed up on a popular beach. Environmental officials are now investigating the bizarre occurrence.   Residents and tourists in the town of Ar-Rams, in the Ras Al Khaimah area of the United Arab Emirates, woke up to the unusual sight. They say the stench from the dead sardines, which washed up along a 1.6-kilometre (one-mile) stretch of the beach, is keeping visitors away.

The Ras Al Khaimah Environment agency said the cause of the mass deaths was unknown. They are currently investigating the incident.Dr Saif Al Ghais, executive director of the Ras Al Khaimah Environmental Protection and Development Authority, said officials had already met to discuss the incident.
