Smartphones are so central to our lives that being separated from them for any length of time can put people into a high state of anxiety – and the problem, it seems, is only going to get worse. Researchers have been looking into the reasons for our ‘smartphone separation anxiety’ – known as nomophobia – and found that it has little to do with being unable to
make or receive a call. My 10 yr old nephew recently commented “there is no life without electronics” as he cheerfully played a game on his ipad. I informed him that there was indeed life without all our electronic cr@p and just because he felt like he might die without it didn’t mean he would! If you go into this level of withdrawl without electronics doesn’t that mean you’re addicted in some way?
