A plot to blow up a plane traveling from Australia to Abu Dhabi with a bomb hidden inside a Barbie doll was foiled by security services. Four brothers, of Lebanese-Australian origin, were said to be behind the plot, according to Lebanon’s interior minister. As well as planning to smuggle explosives inside the child’s toy, the brothers’ plan also included hiding a device inside a meat grinder. One brother, Amer Khayyat, was arrested in Lebanon while Khaled and Mahmoud Khayyat

were detained in Australia. The fourth brother, Tarek, is said to be living in Raqqa, northern Syria, where he is believed to be a senior member of the Islamic State terror group. Lebanon’s interior minister Nouhad Machnouk spoke to a Saudi Arabia-owned TV channel and explained how their plan involved Amer boarding the plane.
